posted in: Cycling, Time Trial | 0

Due to busy end of season with Center Champs and the Nationals the date for this years Hope Gibbons is set for Sunday 6th May 2018

So start thinking of getting your teams together.

On Sunday the 6th May the Masterton Athletics and cycling club will once again host the battle for the Hope Gibbons Shield and we would like to invite riders to put together their four person team for the challenge and a bit of fun. Only teams from the four Wellington centre clubs will be eligible for the title but other clubs are more than welcome to come along test yourselves.

Last year titles were taken out by the WMCC club in the mens grade and the ACM in the females, are they good enough to defend their titles and the time of 52:36? With a strong turn out from PNP Junior team took out the school grade.

Racing a team trial for the Wellington Centre Hope Gibbons Shield goes back to 1934 and has a lot of history.  It’s an impressive shield and  has nearly 300 past winners names engraved on individual shields on it.

This is a event for riders of all levels and we encourage everyone  to find fellow club members of the similar  abilities to team up and represent their club.

All adult riders must be Cycling New Zealand licensed riders and current member of a cycling club. Only teams made up fully from their Wellington center club are eligible for the mens and womens titles.  Riders outside the center are more than welcome to race/ride and will be timed.
