Race Report – 02 November 2021 Francis Line HRR
On a cold, blustery evening only 28 riders presented themselves for the Francis Line handicap road race. The conditions were not conducive for an enthusiastic turn out neither was the resurfaced start/finish section that more closely resembled rough gravel than a sealed road.
In a burst of empathy for the riders & marshals (and some riders would have preferred to marshal than ride) the race was shortened to two laps of the 15km circuit with the short course completing one lap. Handicap groups were Limit; Break 2 at 6 minutes; Break at 10 minutes and Scratch at 16 minutes.
Limit rode well claiming the first five places with Anil Raman claiming the overall win in a time of 58:13. Close behind were four riders from Break who overhauled Break 2 and finished seconds behind Limit. The group of fractious riders in Scratch did not feature on this occasion.
The short course featured three riders and was won by Samantha Plimmer in a time of 32:48
1st Anil Raman 58:13
2nd Neil Henderson 58:35
3rd Greg baillie 58:38
1st Samantha Pplimmer 32:48
2nd David Howden 32:50
3rd Maddi Stephenson 38:00
