Race Report – 10 December 024 ACM Hill Climb Championships
The Wairarapa turned on a cracking evening for the ACM hill climb race up the mighty Admiral Hill road. Bright, sunny and hot with a gusty westerly to help riders up to the finish line
Twenty five riders presented themselves to the start line for the 6.45km to the finish on the first summit.
The start of the parcours is an easy run in to the first ramps that lead up to a series of steep hairpin bends. Another steep ramp leads up to a brief flat before riders hit ‘The wall’ so called for obvious reasons. After conquering this riders have some respite with a short downhill before the final series of ramps up to the finish line
Riders were set off at 30 second intervals to do the best they could. Fastest on the night was Nigel Page at 19:01. However, not being a paid up club member he doesn’t make the podium! That goes to Dave Drummond who smashed out a creditable 19:35

Next week, Tuesday 17 Dec, will be our final race for 2024. It’s the ½ Mile Cup ITT at the Drag Strip followed by a BBQ. It’s a fun event and a great way to round off the year
