Race Report – 19 November Wainuioru Limeworks HRR

The parcours out to Wainuioru and return is guaranteed to push your heartrate to its upper limits! The easterly breeze had died out replaced by a light westerly and a warm and sunny evening. The 21 riders who turned up were divided into four groups; Limit, Break 1, Break and Scratch with 20 minutes between Limit and Scratch.

Ideally the handicapper sets the time gaps so that all groups arrive at the finish line together. With the first five places comprising riders from Limit, Break 1 and Scratch the handicapper got this race just about right

The course itself kicks off with a flat 5 kilometres that leads onto Limeworks, the first climb of the race. After the downhill there’s another section of flat before the climb of Padakawa then more flat to the turnaround at Wainuioru school. Then it’s as fast as you can back to Limeworks and the final kick up to the finish line

Well done to Greg and Mike from Limit who managed to hang on for first and second places
