Race Report – 21 January 2025 Mauriceville Rangitumau MSRR
Tonights race was the 25 kilometre course starting at Double Bridges, heading out to the turn point in Mauriceville then returning over Rangitumau Bluff to finish on the straight just after the left hand bend
Being a short course the pace was always going to be high and combined with a brisk nor’ easterly wind the outward leg to Mauriceville saw the initial group of 17 riders whittled down to 11 in the lead bunch and 6 in the second
By the turn the lead bunch was down to 9 riders with another dropping off on the way back. The 2nd group managed to stay more or less together for a bunch sprint lead home by Ricky Blade
Caleb Roberts decided to chance his arm by leading out the sprint for the A Grade but was pipped on the line by Richie and Derek. Congrats to Richie Van Lent for his 1st place and to Derek DZ for coming 2nd on his first outing back from Xmas holidays
